Outside linebacker Malik Fountain (Olympia Fields, Ill./Rich Central) has committed to sign with Central Michigan, multiple sources reports.

North Dakota also extended a scholarship offer to the 6-foot-2, 205-pound prospect.

The Chippewas, who recently picked up defensive lineman Jimmy McCarthy (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) and offensive lineman Hunter Lassitter (Portage, Mich./Central), now have 10 players on board for 2014.

Junior athlete Luke Gifford (Lincoln, Neb./Southeast) has committed to play for his hometown Huskers, journalstar.com reports. Gifford could play safety, or eventually grow into a tight end or linebacker, for Nebraska.

He committed to coach Bo Pelini during Monday's practice.

“He told me, ‘Welcome to the family. You just made the football team better,’ ” Gifford said. "I had really known from the beginning that I wanted to be a Husker."
Tight end Noah Scarver (Minneapolis/Washburn) had a favorite going into this past weekend. He took an official visit to another school, and it only reinforced his feelings.

NIU lands tight end Shane Wimann

Shane Wimann, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound tight end from Wisconsin Dells, Wis., has committed to sign as part of Northern Illinois' Class of 2013, multiple sources report.

According to Rivals.com, Central Michigan, Illinois State, North Dakota and North Dakota State also extended scholarship offers to Wimann.

Senior quarterack Jesse Ertz (Mediapolis, Iowa) pledged to continue his career in the Big 12 for Kansas State, Scout.com reports.

According to Rivals.com, the 6-foot-2, 171-pound Ertz was also recruited by programs such as Iowa, Iowa State, North Dakota, Penn and South Dakota State.

Before his junior year, Ertz posted combine-verified figures, including a 4.99 40-yard dash, 4.94 20-yard shuttle and 27.1-inch vertical.

Kansas State has six commitments.

According to multiple sources, Central Michigan has picked up three new commitments for 2013.

5-foot-11, 180-pound defensive back Desmond King (Detroit, Mich./Crockett Tech) selected the Chippewas over scholarship offers form Ball State, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan and Wisconsin. Other programs including Bowling Green, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Penn State, Princeton, Purdue and Toledo showed preliminary interest.

Central Michigan won another recruiting battle for defensive end Chris Kantzavelos (Bartlett, Mich.) who held additional scholarship offers from Eastern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Miami-OH, North Dakota, Toledo, Western Kentucky and Western Michigan.

Three-star athlete Nathan Gerry (Sioux Falls, S.D./Washington) has given his pledge to Nebraska, according to multiple sources.

Arizona State, Iowa, Iowa State, Michigan State, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and South Dakota State also extended scholarship offers to the 6-foot-2, 205-pound prospect.

Gerry, a two-way standout, caught 37 passes for 647 yards and eight touchdowns while also registering 73 tackles and two sacks last season.

Chad Beebe (Aurora, Ill./Christian), the son of former NFL wide receiver Don Beebe and Aurora Christian head coach, has become the first Class of 2013 verbal for Northern Illinois, multiple sources report.

"There were times selfishly speaking I wanted to just say I got a full ride from a Big Ten school but then I kind of thought about that more, and what does that really matter," Chad Beebe told the Daily Chronicle. "I knew NIU at the time was going to be right for me. After praying about it and all that, it just felt right."

Canadian import David Fennell (Portland, Ore./Sunset), a three-star defensive tackle, committed to Michigan State following an official visit to campus, multiple sources report.

Fennell, who is originally from Calgary, emerged as a BCS-level recruiting this fall and picked up scholarship offers from Louisville, Oregon State, Iowa, Nevada, Central Michigan and North Dakota.
