Austin Hudson says yes to Wisconsin

The Wisconsin Badgers picked up a commitment Thursday night from Sunshine State safety Austin Hudson (Tampa, Fla./Plant), reports.

Florida Tech, Holy Cross and Jacksonville State also extended scholarship offers to the 6-foot-2, 186-pound prospect. Pittsburgh, Purdue and Stanford showed interest, according to multiple sources.

"I love the coaches and I love the faith the coaches put in me and believed in me. How much they wanted me was definitely a factor," he said. "As well as the academics. It's a great school. It's a great campus life. The fans are crazy; they're like the best fans in America."

Hudson, who hopes to graduate from high school early, added, "It was something I was incredibly sure about. There was no other place for me, except for Wisconsin. It is the whole package."

The Badgers have 10 players on board for 2014.

Wake Forest wins battle for OLB Williams

Outside linebacker Jaboree' Williams (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Fort Lauderdale) pledged to sign with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, multiple sources report. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Williams announced his decision on Twitter:


Appalachian State, Boston College, Cincinnati, East Carolina, Eastern Michigan, Florida Atlantic, Holy Cross, Illinois, Marshall, Memphis, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, South Alabama, South Florida, Southern Methodist, Tulane, West Virginia and Wisconsin were his other scholarship offers.

He posted an electronically-timed 4.84 40-yard dash, 4.74 20-yard shuttle, 32-inch vertical, 33-foot power throw and 64.68 SPARQ this offseason at a Nike combine.

Williams is commitment No. 2 for Wake Forest. Safety Cameron Glenn (Stone Mountain, Ga./Stephenson) got the Deacons' class started in April with his pledge.

Four-star Johnathan Thomas commits

Danvers (Mass.) St. John's Prep running back Johnathan Thomas has verbally committed to the University of Maryland, he confirmed to this afternoon.

Dan Ventura of the Boston Herald was first to report the commitment.

The 5-foot-11, 205-pound Thomas, a Salem resident, is a four-star running back prospect, and one of two four-star prospects in New England, along with Norwich (Conn.) Free Academy running back Marcus Outlow, a Boston College commitment.

Thomas was an ESPN Boston All-State selection after helping lead the Eagles to their first MIAA Division 1 Super Bowl title in 15 years, carrying 220 times for 1,794 yards and 15 touchdowns. He added nine catches for 153 yards and three touchdowns, and defensively added 20.5 tackles and two interceptions. He was one of five finalists for ESPN Boston's annual "Mr. Football" award, given to the best player in Massachusetts, and the only junior named to the list.

Thomas chose the Terrapins over offers from Arkansas, Boston College, UConn, UMass, Virginia and Holy Cross.

Jon Baker commits to Boston College

Class of 2014 two-way lineman Jon Baker (Millis, Mass./Millis) verbally committed Saturday afternoon to Boston College during an unofficial visit to the Chestnut Hill campus, reports.

The Eagles first offered the 6-foot-3, 305-pound Baker last spring. He also had offers from Michigan State, Rutgers, Temple, UConn, UMass, Harvard, Yale, Old Dominion and Holy Cross.

Baker is considered one of the top prospects in New England, and projects as a center for BC. In his junior season he registered 78 tackles with four sacks at defensive tackle to earn a spot on's annual All-State Team. He also earned Tri-Valley League Lineman of the Year honors for the second straight year, as the Mohawks made their second straight MIAA Division 4 playoff appearance.

Yiadom commits to Boston College

Wide receiver/defensive back Isaac Yiadom (Worcester, Mass./Doherty) told on Thursday night that he has committed to Boston College for the fall of 2014.
