Today’s offerings: One of the best 2015 prospects in Kansas City learned a lesson about how to handle the recruiting process by watching his teammate go through it this past fall; Iowa picked up commitments earlier this week from twin offensive linemen, helping the Hawkeyes make recruiting waves in the Big Ten; and a West Coast running back is starting to move up the charts with coaches.

Moore savvy about process

Monday’s offerings: After a few weeks to recover from the holiday that was signing day, it’s always interesting to analyze the data to get a better understanding of what really happened. This past Friday, I took a look at the teams that saw the biggest gains from 2013 to 2014. But what were some of the teams that were on the other end of the spectrum?

Three-star athlete Tony Ellison (Granite Bay, Calif./Granite Bay) committed this week to play in the Pac-12 for Arizona, multiple sources report.

Ellison announced his decision on Twitter:

Fresno State and Wyoming also extended scholarship offers to the 5-foot-11, 162-pound prospect, considered the nation's No. 68-rated ATH.

The Wildcat now have 11 players on board for 2014.

KATY, Texas -- As one of the 18 commits -- and counting -- in Baylor's 2014 recruiting class, Houston Elsik receiver Ishmael Zamora has little, if anything, left to prove.

With nearly a dozen offers and five from power-conference schools, the 6-foot-4, 201-pound prospect secured his college football future when he committed to the Bears on May 21.

SDSU lands Buck, Griffin for front seven

AM ET
Donavin Buck (Brawley, Calif./Union) and Cameron Griffin (Los Angeles/View Park) committed to San Diego State for 2014, multiple sources report.

Arizona, Oregon State, Rutgers, San Jose State, Southern Methodist and Washington State were Buck's other scholarship offers. Minnesota, Oregon, Pittsburgh, UCLA and Washington also recruited Buck, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound defensive end/linebacker.

Griffin, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound linebacker, also holds a scholarship offer from Fresno State.

San Diego State's three other 2014 verbals are also from California: outside linebacker Jay Henderson (Victorville, Calif./Serrano), cornerback Maurice McKnight (San Bernardino, Calif./Arroyo Valley) and running back William Walker (Perris, Calif./Citrus Hill).
Senior athlete Jeff Farrar and wide receiver Trevor Wright are bringing college coaches to Upland (Calif.) High School this spring. But they're getting some serious help from the underclassmen in keeping those coaches around for the entire practice.

Coaches from Fresno State, Notre Dame, Oregon State, USC and Utah State were at Upland for spring ball practice this past Tuesday and each stayed well into the evening, as it seemed a new young standout made his presence felt during each drill.

In addition to Farrar -- who was put to work by the Upland staff at both defensive back and wide receiver -- as well as Wright, who was forced to miss the practice with a broken scapula, 2015 quarterback Tyler Hilinski is a known product at this point and generating serious interest from big-time programs such as Alabama, Oklahoma and USC. But he isn't the only junior-to-be making noise this spring.

OT Johnson has Pac-12 interest

Every year during the 7-on-7 season, it seems as though offensive linemen take a back seat with the recruiting process. But college coaches who know how important that position is are constantly scouting the nation's big men.

One offensive tackle ready to make a recruiting impact this spring is 6-foot-4, 270-pound tackle Bobby Johnson (Carson, Calif./Carson).

Tales from the Road: West

April, 3, 2013

Tales From the Road spotlights players who stand out to RecruitingNation writers at camps, combines and various events. Here is a look at a few prospects from the West who recently performed at a high level:

WR Erik Brown
Vital stats: 2014 / Fontana (Calif.) Summit / 6-foot-2, 170 pounds
Considering: Brown holds six offers -- three from the Pac-12 -- but a recent offer from UCLA has the Bruins comfortably in the driver's seat. He has said he would like to take his time with the recruiting process.

Where we saw him: Gamebreaker Classic

What impressed: Brown was easily the most productive wide receiver at the event and showcased why schools see him both as a threat out wide and in the slot. He hauled in several deep touchdown passes, but also worked well underneath coverage and caught virtually everything thrown his way.

Find their way to San Jose State last weekend turned out to be very worthwhile for several California recruits, as the Spartans handed out a number of offers during their junior day.
