Duke scores ESPN 300 QB Pierre

video Nicodem Pierre (Miami/Coral Reef), the nation's seventh-best dual-threat quarterback, has committed to play for Duke, according to multiple reports. He is now the Blue Devils' highest-rated recruit for 2014.

His list of scholarship offers includes Appalachian State, Cincinnati, Florida International, Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, Howard, Kansas State, Louisville, Marshall, Mississippi State, Nebraska, South Alabama, South Florida, Wake Forest, Western Kentucky and Wisconsin.

Other programs, including Clemson and Miami (Fla.), also recruited the 6-foot-2, 203-pound prospect, who is No. 265 in the ESPN 300.

Pierre displayed impressive athleticism for a quarterback this spring on the Nike combine circuit, posting an electronically-timed 4.82 40-yard dash, 4.50 20-yard shuttle, 34.3-inch vertical, 40-foot power throw and 95.61 SPARQ.

Duke's Class of 2014 now holds 12 commitments.

Smith, Battle part ways with Kentucky

Three-star wide receiver JeVontey Smith (Greensboro, Ala./West) and two-star safety Jalen Battle (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./University School) are no longer committed to Kentucky.

Both prospects originally verballed to the Wildcats' previous staff. According to multiple recruiting Web sites, they no longer hold scholarship offers from Kentucky following the coaching change.

It appears that Smith's only current offer is from Middle Tennessee. Auburn and Tennessee showed interest earlier in the process. Battle is now considering Akron, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Florida A&M, Illinois, UMass, Navy, Toledo and Tulane.

QB Michael White picks USF

New South Florida head coach Willie Taggert landed a commitment Saturday from senior quarterback Michael White (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./University School), multiple sources report.

White, a 6-foot-4, 195-pound pocket-passer, also received scholarship offers from Eastern Kentucky, Florida A&M, Marshall and Western Illinois. Programs such as Oklahoma State showed interest.

South Florida lands QB

Junior signal-caller Asiantii Woulard (Winter Park, Fla.) committed to sign with South Florida on Tuesday, according to multiple sources.

He posted on Twitter, "Just committed to the University of South Florida! I'm officially a bull. #gobulls... Can't wait to play college ball in the green & gold!"

Woulard, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound prospect, also had scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Central Florida and Florida A&M. Other programs including South Carolina, Tennessee, Washington State, Memphis and Temple were showing interest.

The Big East Bulls now have three Class of 2013 commitments. Immokalee (Fla.) High School teammates wide receiver Xavier Richardson and athlete Tshumbi Johnson are also on board.

Florida A&M has landed a verbal commitment from Lee Williams (Tallahassee, Fla./Maclay School), who will also compete on the track team, the Tallahassee Democrat reports.

Williams rushed for 2,138 yards and 28 touchdowns this past season. However, his track credentials might be more impressive as he was the Class 1A state champion in the 100 meters, 200 meters and triple jump as a junior.

Josh Murriel (Port St. Lucie, Fla.), a three-star senior, has committed to sign with Marshall, reports. He officially visited the Thundering Herd for the weekend of Nov. 14.

Bethune-Cookman, Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, Georgia State, Memphis and New Mexico State also extended scholarship offers to the 6-foot-5, 300-pounder.
