RB Hood speaks out on top three schools

By Brad Bournival

Class of 2014 running back Elijah Hood (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) spent a weekend visiting Notre Dame, Michigan and Ohio State. Monday, the ESPN Watch List prospect listed his top three schools.

All three of the schools he saw recently are represented, with the Fighting Irish in the lead followed by the Wolverines at No. 2 and Buckeyes third.

The 6-foot, 209-pound running back has more than 20 offers but likes what he sees in the three programs, with Notre Dame holding strong.

“It’s just a feeling right now,” Hood said of Notre Dame. “After everything was said and done and I sat home in my room and thought about it, they’re still No. 1.”

Hood indicated he would like to have his decision finalized sometime in the spring

As a junior, Hood put up incredible numbers, rushing for 3,309 yards and scoring 48 touchdowns. In the last two seasons, he has gobbled up 5,291 yards and found the end zone 83 times.

Here’s more on what he said about the Fighting Irish as well as snippets on Michigan and Ohio State:

Notre Dame: “I love the academics. I love the players and the people there. The guys that would be around me are top notch. They’ll take me to another level as well.”

Michigan: “The staff and the coaches, the way they work together and the loyalty they have there, it’s a family atmosphere. It’s built on love, having fun and getting work done. It just seems like a good atmosphere to play football in.”

Ohio State: “Their work ethic and trustworthiness. You’re held accountable, but at the same time, you’re having fun. Having the big-time Ohio State kind of swagger they have going on down there is a lot of fun. It feels like it would be fun to be a part of what Urban [Meyer] is doing.”
