Growth spurt helps LB land Gophers offer
By Jared Shanker
CLEVES, Ohio -- It was just a matter of a few inches for Lake Zurich (Ill.) linebacker Colton Moskal.
Minnesota became the first program to offer Moskal earlier this month, and Moskal believes the fact he grew a few inches over the last year helped him land a Gophers offer.
“I went up to camp there last spring and performed pretty well so they saw what I could do and how I could run,” the 6-foot-1, 215-pound Moskal said. “Then I grew a couple inches, so they liked that and I think that’s what sort of pushed them over.”
Moskal visited Minnesota for a visit Feb. 2, and the offer came a few days after. The visit left a mark on Moskal, who is also hearing from Cornell, Duke, Illinois and Iowa.
“I thought it was real nice. The coaches, the players, I got a former teammate [Jack Lynn] up there so that helps out. The facilities and the locker room stuff is really nice.”
Moskal plans to camp at Duke and Northwestern during the summer.
