3-star LB Spearman lands in the Big Ten
By Jared Shanker
With two official visits still available, three-star Chicago Simeon linebacker Reggie Spearman decided to make an unofficial visit instead.
The writing was on the wall then that Iowa was the leader, and the former Illinois commit made it official Tuesday at a ceremony at his high school. Spearman committed to the Hawkeyes.
“I got nothing much to say about Iowa other than it’s just that place -- Iowa City is a great place,” he said Monday. “Iowa City is a big football town. They produce talent, and my goal is to go to the NFL, so that’s big.”
Spearman officially visited Iowa in November and was offered while on the visit. He committed to Illinois in August but began wavering shortly before the Iowa official visit.
He also took official visits to Minnesota and Syracuse. The Orange were his third finalist.
