Texas DE chooses Big Ten school
By Damon Sayles
The inevitable has become reality. Dimarya Mixon (Mesquite, Texas/West Mesquite) is headed to the Big Ten.
After decommitting from Missouri while on an official visit to Nebraska, Mixon verbally committed to the Cornhuskers on Sunday afternoon. The three-star defensive end is commitment No. 25 for Nebraska, and he is the fourth defensive end to give the Huskers his verbal pledge.
Mixon made the trip to Lincoln, Neb., after picking up an offer last week. While he was a fan of what Missouri had to offer, Mixon said the idea of being a member of the Blackshirts, Nebraska’s much-respected first-team defensive unit, and playing against Big Ten opponents such as Ohio State and Michigan was too good to pass up.
“I want to be a part of that. Everybody doesn’t get to have this opportunity,” Mixon said. “I’m just blessed, and I thank the Lord. I’m very excited.”
Mixon, a 6-foot-4, 250-pound end, is ranked No. 72 nationally among defensive ends.
