Watch List LB picks up Georgia Tech offer
By Chantel Jennings
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Watch List linebacker Davonte James (Springfield, Ohio/Springfield) picked up his biggest offer yet on Thursday when Georgia Tech stopped by his school and offered the 2014 prospect.
"It was exciting," James said. "They've shown a lot of interest. I like everything about them, really. I like how they want to play me in their defense."
The Yellow Jackets staff told James they would want to use him as an outside linebacker that could be used in a dual-position to also be an edge rusher.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound recruit has two other offers, from Purdue and Cincinnati, and has been visited in school by Tennessee, Michigan State, Penn State, Indiana and Ohio State over the past few weeks.
James will visit West Virginia this Saturday. He also has been asked to visit Georgia Tech on Feb. 9 and take in Indiana’s junior day in March.
As a junior, James recorded 105 tackles, one interception (returned for a touchdown), one forced fumble and one sack.
