Purdue flips commit from Big Ten rival
By Jared Shanker
Purdue not only added another commitment Monday, but it also came at the expense of a conference rival.
Defensive end Evan Panfil (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) flipped to the Boilermakers from Illinois. The move comes in light of Keith Gilmore leaving his post as the Illini's defensive line coach to become an assistant at North Carolina.
Panfil confirmed the news in a text message citing "family ties" to the Purdue program.
The Boilermakers have 21 commitments in the 2013 class, nine of which have come since Jan. 19.
