Guard connects with new Illini OL coach
By Jared Shanker
Offensive line coach Jim Bridge still has the process of getting to know his position group at Illinois, but he made an early impression on the 2014 offensive line visitors Saturday.
J.B. Butler visited Illinois for its junior day, and the 6-foot-2, 273-pound Butler was impressed with Bridge, who was recently hired.
“I really liked him. He preached my game totally,” the junior interior lineman said. “He [talked about] hard-nosed Big Ten football, which I liked, and he was a straight-up guy. ... He really liked me and the way I played.”
Still in search of his first offer, Butler said he likes Illinois.
“It was awesome. I had a great time,” he said. “I loved it.”
