Pitt official visit seals deal for WR Weah
By Jared Shanker
The third time was the charm for
(Madison, Wis./Madison Memorial) and Pittsburgh.
Weah made his third visit to Pitt last weekend, and once he received the offer, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound receiver was locked up to the Panthers.
“It was pretty close,” Weah said of the decision between Pitt and Colorado State. “The visit separated everything from the other schools. It’s a fantastic place.”
Previously Weah had been at Pitt for a camp and an unofficial visit during the season. His official visit was the first time he got to see the campus, though.
“The campus is beautiful. They have an old-school look to it,” he said. “The classrooms are different.”
A bigger receiver with electronically timed 4.5 speed, Weah will be used on the outside at Pitt by receivers coach Bobby Engram. Weah said Engram played a pivotal role in his recruitment.
“Engram is a fantastic guy,” Weah said. “He played in the league and the first to ever win the Biletnikoff Award. It says a lot about him, and he’s a great family guy as well.”
Pittsburgh has 27 commitments in its 2013 class.
