2013 Cass Tech DT pledges to NC State

By Chantel Jennings

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- North Carolina State picked up its 18th commit in the 2013 class Wednesday.

Defensive tackle Kenton Gibbs (Detroit/Cass Tech) chose the Wolfpack over other offers Big Ten schools and Pitt, according to Gibbs and Cass Tech coach Thomas Wilcher.

While Gibbs is the class’ 14th three-star commit he is also the only defensive line commit. However, NC State doesn’t lack potential on the D-line as it brought in six defensive linemen in its 2012 class and four in its 2011 class.

The 6-foot-1, 280 pound tackle hails from talent-rich Detroit Cass Tech. With his commitment, he becomes the fifth member of his senior class to commit to an FBS program, joining Michigan commits David Dawson, Jourdan Lewis and Delano Hill as well as Michigan State commit Dennis Finley.
