LB Spearman in prime flipping position

By Jared Shanker

WESTMONT, Ill. -- Chicago Simeon linebacker Reggie Spearman said he was 50-50 between Illinois and Iowa last month, but the three-star prospect is saying all teams in his top five have an equal shot.

Spearman, an Illini commit, is coming off an official visit to Minnesota, and he said the visit went great. He was thoroughly impressed with the staff, city and facilities -- including the mammoth Minnesota locker room.

The Gophers are squarely in the hunt for Spearman, who reiterated he is open to more than just the Illini and Hawkeyes.

However, the Hawkeyes appear in the best position to flip Spearman, who committed to Illinois in August. Syracuse offered Spearman on Tuesday, and while he is also considering Indiana and Purdue, Spearman will spend this coming weekend back in Iowa City on his own dime. Spearman officially visited Iowa in November for an official visit, and what could be his last visit before signing day will go to Iowa.
