Williams commits on official visit
By Corey Dowlar
Whatever Justin Williams (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Treasure Coast) needed to see in East Lansing, Mich., this weekend, he saw it.
The 6-foot, 180-pound safety decided on his official visit that the Michigan State program was the best fit for him choosing the Spartans over Purdue, Cincinnati, Marshall, FIU, South Carolina and West Virginia.
"They were all excited when I told them and they gave me a big hug," Williams said of the Michigan State coaching staff's reaction.
The Spartans defense, usually toward the top of the country statistically on a yearly basis, was a major reason for his decision. That and the fact that it was a similar scheme to what he's used to and it became a perfect match.
"I felt at home," said Williams. "My high school runs their defensive scheme so I basically know it."
Williams is the Spartans' second commitment from the state of Florida in this year's class.
