Big Ten offers piling up for 2015 RB
By Jared Shanker
At most, Darrin Hall (Youngstown, Ohio/Austintown-Fitch) expected to see the field only during garbage time this past season. The sophomore knew his opportunity would be next season.
An injury to the starting running back caused Hall to see the field early and often, however, and he made the most of his opportunities. Hall rushed for a shade under 1,000 yards and tallied 13 touchdowns.
He’s added three offers, all from the Big Ten.
“I think I did great but I still have a lot of improvement,” Hall said. “… If it wasn’t for the injury -- I wanted him to come back as he’s a teammate -- but none of this would be happening right now or this early I should say.”
The latest offer came Tuesday when Indiana running backs coach Deland McCullough visited the high schools. Hall had no idea McCullough was coming or that the Hoosiers were even interested in him.
Hall is not too keen on what type of program the Hoosiers are at this point, but did want to find out more about the program.
“I don’t know nothing about them. He told me a couple facts like how they led the Big Ten in passing -- even though I’m a running back,” Hall said. “He said to come down on a visit and he’ll show me around.”
The 6-foot, 185-pound back also has offers from Illinois and Nebraska. He has not scheduled any visits yet but plans to see a few schools soon.
Hall added Florida Atlantic, Ohio State and Penn State appear to be interested, although he is unsure just how much.
