Where Ohio State sits with James Clark
By Brad Bournival
Ohio State fell behind Clemson this week. Will the Buckeyes lose out next week as well?
With a precious few weeks left in the recruiting process for 2013, Ohio State reached out to
(New Smyrna Beach, Fla./New Smyrna Beach) with an offer on Monday.
Clark has two official visits left and wanted time to think things over before deciding where he wanted to take them.
This weekend, the 5-foot-11, 175-pound Clark chose the Tigers over the Buckeyes.
Having already taken visits to Purdue (Oct. 12), Northwestern (Dec. 7) and Nebraska (Jan. 11), all that’s left is a two-horse race between Florida and Ohio State for that final official visit.
He has the Gators on the schedule now, but hasn’t ruled out making that one an unofficial visit because Gainesville is a little over 115 miles away.
“I’m going to Clemson this weekend, but Ohio State is still in the picture,” Clark said in a text message.
A four-star wide receiver with blazing speed, Clark caught 49 passes for 1,112 yards and eight touchdowns his senior season.
Clark had put Florida, Northwestern, Clemson and Nebraska -- in no order -- in his final four a week ago, but that was before he had an offer from the Buckeyes.
He currently has offers from 31 college programs as well as interest from Texas.
