Four-star OT Hunt prepares for visits
By Mitch Sherman
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Offensive tackle Cameron Hunt (Corona, Calif./Centennial), committed to Cal since July, is about to get busy again with recruiting.
Cameron Hunt looks forward to an upcoming U-M visit, for which former teammate Kyle Bosch will likely be his host.
Hunt plans to visit Michigan on Jan. 11 after he returns home from the Under Armour All-America Game, Oregon on Jan. 18 and Cal on Jan. 25.
He’s also considering Ohio State, though he has yet to set a visit. It has been a long road for Hunt, who drew little recruiting interest before a breakout camp circuit last spring.
“Crazy,” Hunt said, “But at the end of the day, this is what I trained for. It’s cool to see all this hard work finally pay off.”
Hunt reopened the process after Cal coach Jeff Tedford was fired in November.
Of Michigan, he said he’s close with commit Kyle Bosch, a fellow offensive lineman who will begin school in Ann Arbor a semester early, on Jan. 9. In fact, Hunt expects Bosch to serve as host of Hunt’s official visit.
“Great program with rich football tradition,” Hunt said of Michigan. “It’s a great area. They have great academics. That really attracted me to them.”
Hunt’s high school runs an offense similar to the Oregon system.
“So I fit in there really well,” Hunt said.
At Cal, he primarily wants to get acquainted with new coach Sonny Dykes and his staff.
“Once I take that last trip,” Hunt said, “I think I’ll be ready to decide.”
