RedHawks beat Bobcats for Heath Harding
By Jared Shanker
For athlete Heath Harding (Miamisburg, Ohio/Dayton Christian), the decision between Miami (OH) and Ohio came down to where he would want to attend a school if he were just a student and not an athlete.
He got his answer Sunday.
“I just felt if I didn’t play football, where would I want to be,” he said, “and I felt Miami was a better fit for me athletically and academically as well.
“ ... I knew it was close between Miami and OU. I was just playing it by ear. Someone told me you’ll know when it’s time to commit, and I knew.”
Harding is the 20th commitment in the RedHawks’ 2013 class, and coach Don Treadwell told Harding he could be the player to put the finishing bow before signing day.
In a meeting with Treadwell this morning, Harding told the Miami coach of his decision.
“We were talking about how I’m going to be used and that nature and he was telling me all the guys committed and how I fit in with these guys and how the class is shaping up to be good and I’d take it over the top,” Harding said.
The RedHawks will bring Harding in as a cornerback but said “don’t be surprised if I run the ball. That’s all I got to say.” Harding rushed for more than 2,000 yards and scored 32 rushing touchdowns as a senior.
