2015 RB high on Ohio State after trip

By Brad Bournival

Jacques Patrick (Orlando, Fla./East River) made things perfectly clear. He thoroughly enjoyed his unofficial visit to Ohio State on Tuesday.

Asked if there will be a return visit later on, the junior said three words that should resonate with Buckeyes fans.

“I definitely will,” said Patrick, who plans on coming back for the Penn State game on Oct. 26.

That’s great news for Ohio State, as the 6-foot-2, 200-pound Patrick raved about his trip.

Patrick had his picture taken at midfield of The Horseshoe, toured the facilities and talked academics with some of the coaches.

But the highlight of the day came when he talked to Urban Meyer. The two-time national championship coach has long been a favorite of Patrick.

“Everything was great,” Patrick said. “Coach Meyer is a great guy. He’s a different type of coach. He’s a great coach. We talked about the 2014 class and he told me he wanted me in the 2015 class.”

Patrick is a different type of player and he has the stats to prove it.

He came into his own as freshman when he ran for 1,162 yards and scored eight touchdowns. But last season set him apart, as he carried the ball 231 times for 2,032 yards and scored 29 times.

But it wasn’t all about Meyer for Patrick, who has over 30 offers.

“My view of them went up,” Patrick said. “I really like Ohio State. Everything was so nice. The facilities are just so big.”

Patrick isn’t done with his Midwest swing as he visits Michigan State on Wednesday and Michigan on Thursday.

He had a visit to Notre Dame lined up as well, but plans fell through.
