Bowling Green went back into Illinois for a third time Tuesday, grabbing a commitment from Chicago, as defensive tackle Shannon Smith (Chicago/Marist) committed to the Falcons.
"I felt comfortable there and I knew how much they wanted me, and they didn't care about my size," Smith said. "They also have a great defense, and I know I'll be an asset to their defense and what they're doing."
At 6-foot-1 and 265 pounds, Smith is considered a little undersized for the position, but the Bowling Green coaches liked what they saw on film.
Smith also hit it off with the Bowling Green players while on his official visit this past weekend.
"The players were also a big reason why I wanted to go there," he said.
Bowling Green has 14 commitments in its 2013 class, three of whom come from Illinois.
