OT Martesse Patterson earns first offer

For a lot of prospects in Ohio, the first offer is from one of several MAC programs in the state. However, for Martesse Patterson (Columbus, Ohio/Marion-Franklin), his came from the Big Ten.
The 6-foot-5, 280-pound tackle spoke with Illinois assistant coach Alex Golesh first thing Monday morning, and Golesh tendered Patterson offer No. 1.
"He just told me he watched my film and he wanted to offer me a scholarship," Patterson wrote in a text message.
Patterson had just sent out his film to several Big Ten programs over the weekend. Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Pittsburgh and Toledo are all showing serious interest in Patterson, who plays left tackle for Marion-Franklin, which will play for a regional championship Friday.
