For a second straight week, a visit ended with great news for 2014 dual-threat quarterback Dareian Watkins (Galion, Ohio/Galion).
Last week, Watkins visited Cincinnati and received an offer shortly after. On Saturday, Watkins made it out to Indiana and picked up a scholarship offer as well.
“I was surprised because Coach [Kevin] Johns told me they were probably a few weeks away [from offering] before I came,” Watkins said. “I like Coach Johns and Coach [Kevin] Wilson a lot.”
Watkins liked the effort he saw from Indiana despite its 52-49 loss to undefeated Ohio State.
“Coach Wilson has turned them around,” he said. “They gave to the very end. You can tell they want it bad.”
Entering the weekend, Watkins has the stats through two games at wide receiver of 10 catches for 271 yards and four touchdowns.
If he were to choose Indiana, he is confident of the quarterback situation in Bloomington.
“I thought they had two good quarterbacks,” Watkins said.
The Hoosiers offered Watkins as an offensive player but did not give him a specific position.
Watkins has made visits almost every weekend this fall, and he will go to Kentucky, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State or West Virginia next.
