Chase Lash, Kentrell Taylor set favorites

10/9/2012

Chase Lash (Massillon, Ohio/Washington) has been busy on the recruiting front. Teammate Kentrell Taylor is close to starting his journey.

The good news for the junior offensive tackle and senior linebacker, respectively, is that they have a pretty good grasp of what they are looking for in schools and where they might see themselves down the road.

Lash has been to West Virginia and Cincinnati. He’s headed to the Michigan-Illinois game in Ann Arbor, Mich., this weekend and wants to get to Michigan State as well.

He has interest from Kent State, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Wisconsin, but really likes the Mountaineers and Wolverines.

“I liked [West Virginia],” Lash said. “It’s a nice stadium. I liked everything. They told me to keep in touch, keep working at it and keep my strength up. “Michigan, it’s just the tradition. I would have to say the coaches [are what I like]. I like how they approach it. It’s kind of like here.”

Taylor has offers from Bowling Green, Buffalo, Kent State and Toledo and interest coming from Indiana, Syracuse, Temple and Wisconsin. As it sits for the 5-foot-11, 230-pound inside linebacker, it’s a three-horse race between Toledo, Buffalo and Kent State.

He hasn’t been out on visits yet, but is planning to start soon. A solid running back for the Tigers, Taylor wants to play linebacker at the next level.

“Toledo is right up the road and they’re in constant contact with me,” Taylor said. “With Buffalo, I talk to Coach [Alex] Wood a lot and at Kent, it’s Coach [Darrell] Hazell. They both like me a lot and said I can play wherever I want to play.”
