Chris Overton had to do a little bit of everything for Cleveland Glenville offensively last season. His time on the field last season was almost split in half between receiver and quarterback. While that is what Glenville needed Overton to do to win, it has set his recruiting back a bit.
This season, the 5-foot-10, 165-pound junior will likely split time again, but this fall it will be at receiver and cornerback. Overton said he played cornerback as a freshman on the junior varsity team but has not played it since. He said he is comfortable at corner but “not as natural” at it as he is receiver.
“He’s going to play some defensive back this year,” his father and Tarblooders assistant coach Tony Overton. “He’s mostly been on offense throughout his career … because he’s so important on offense. He’ll be playing some punt return and kick return, too. To open up some recruiting we’ll get him on the nickel package.”
