B1G high school performers

There was plenty of action on the high school circuit, including among Big Ten commits and targets. Here is a look at some of the bigger performances from the weekend.

Illinois

Matt Domer: The Illini commit took the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. He had 11 rushes for 84 yards in a 42-0 win over Bishop McNamara.

Mike Dudek: Dudek had the game-winning 35-yard touchdown catch with 41 seconds to play. He had two touchdowns total in a 40-34 win over South Elgin.

Indiana

Alexander Diamont: The Indiana pledge and Los Angeles Venice quarterback went 23-for-36 for 351 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 73 yards and another score in a 49-39 loss to Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian.

Nick Carovillano: The Hoosiers commitment and Cincinnati St. Xavier defensive end helped limit Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy to 238 total yards in a 23-0 win.

Iowa

Jay Scheel: The Iowa pledge and La Porte City (Iowa) Union quarterback was 12-of-14 for 225 yards and six touchdowns in a 61-6 win over Manly (Iowa) Central Springs. Scheel also notched a rushing touchdown.

James Butler: The Hawkeyes target and Wheaton (Ill.) St. Francis running back rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns in a 49-0 victory over Chicago Christian.

Michigan

Wilton Speight: The future Michigan quarterback went 23 of 39 passing with four touchdowns and one interception. He now has 12 touchdowns and one interception on the season after three games.

Michael Ferns: Ferns had 15 tackles, one pass breakup and one forced fumble on defense. He also had 80 yards rushing and 32 yards receiving.

Michigan State

Gerald Owens: The Spartans commit had 10 carries for 205 yards rushing with four touchdowns in a 76-0 win over Gateway.

Chris Frey: Frey had 23 carries, 186 yards, and three touchdowns in a 31-7 win over Gahanna.

Minnesota

Jeff Jones: Jones continues his excellent season with a 275-yard, five-touchdown performance. He helped lift Washburn over Minneapolis North, 52-14.

Dimonic McKinzy: The talented athlete was 11 of 21 passing with 287 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. His team beat Harmon 48-6.

Nebraska

Luke Gifford: In a 24-3 win over Millard South, Gifford had touchdowns of 59 and 62 yards to go along with 90 yards passing.

Larenzo Stewart: Stewart had another nice game with 19 carries, 225 yards and two TDs in a 28-21 loss to Kingwood.

Northwestern

Clayton Thorson: The future Northwestern signal-caller went 18 for 38 with 225 yards passing. He also had two rushing touchdowns in a 17-13 loss to Wheaton Warrenville South.

Auston Anderson: Anderson had 16 carries and 110 yards in a 35-17 win over South Garland.

Ohio State

Terry McLaurin: The Ohio State commitment and Indianapolis Central wide receiver had 12 catches for 73 yards and two touchdowns and added a 96-yard kickoff return for a score in a 37-35 win over Indianapolis Bishop Chatard.

Marshon Lattimore: The Buckeyes target and Cleveland Glenville athlete had four catches for 77 yards and two touchdowns in a 32-13 win over Cleveland Heights. He also had an interception while guarding FBS recruit Dorian Baker and had a 67-yard touchdown called back.

Penn State

Justin Hilliard: The Penn State target and Cincinnati St. Xavier outside linebacker registered 10 tackles and a sack in a 23-0 win over Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy.

Daquan Worley: The Nittany Lions pledge and Coatesville (Pa.) athlete rushed for 220 yards and two touchdowns in a 27-14 win over Harrisburg (Pa.) Central Dauphin. It’s the third straight game over 150 yards for Worley.

Purdue

Drue Tranquill: The Purdue commit and Fort Wayne (Ind.) Carroll outside linebacker rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-35 loss to New Haven (Ind.). He also had 14 tackles on defense.

Shaq Vann: The Purdue target and South Bend (Ind.) John Adams running back rushed for 171 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries in a 42-14 win over South Bend Washington.

Wisconsin

Michael Deiter: The Wisconsin pledge and Genoa Area (Ohio) offensive guard helped his team to an 84-13 win over Port Clinton (Ohio). Through three contests, the Comets are averaging 70.7 points per game. That would put them second all-time in Ohio high school history (Fostoria, 74.5, 1912).

Damien Mama: The Badgers target and Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco offensive guard helped his team pick up 476 yards of total offense in a 52-31 victory over Chandler (Ariz.).
