Columbus (Ind.) East quarterback Gunner Kiel plans to end his recruitment and commit by Christmas Day, he told The Indianapolis Star on Tuesday.
Kiel, ranked No. 20 in the ESPNU 150 and No. 2 among quarterbacks, will decide between LSU, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt after decommitting from Indiana in October.
"It'll be a gut feeling," Kiel told the newspaper. "It's been a very hard decision."
Kiel told The Indianapolis Star he was hoping to make a choice Tuesday when he was awarded The Star's Indiana Mr. Football trophy at Columbus East's boys basketball game against rival Columbus North, but he "couldn't make a decision."
He made December visits to all three programs and has kept quiet as to which direction he is leaning.
Multiple phone calls made to Kiel and his family over the last several weeks were not returned.
