Watch List QB is All-State safety, too

There aren’t too many quarterbacks who would volunteer to play both ways for their team when a starting defensive player got injured.
And even fewer who would earn All-State defensive honors during their first season on the field at safety.
But that’s what happened for Watch List quarterback Adam Bertke (Maria Stein, Ohio/Marion Local), who started the entire season playing both quarterback and safety (and even some on special teams).
“You don’t get the chance to hit people on offense,” Bertke said. “So it was a lot of fun for me.”
