Isaiah Johnson (Cary, N.C./Iowa Western C.C.) is from North Carolina, so he knew a thing or two about crazy college basketball atmospheres. Duke and North Carolina were not far away, and even NC State was close by.
He said they all paled in comparison on his official visit to Kansas, when he attended the Jayhawks’ basketball game.
“It’s not even close,” he said.
Although that wasn’t a reason for his commitment to the Jayhawks’ football team, it all added up to a great official visit for Johnson, who committed Wednesday.
“It’s the perfect opportunity for me talking with Coach [Charlie] Weis,” Johnson said.
The coaching staff believes the 6-foot-1, 210-pound Johnson can play either free or strong safety in the Jayhawks’ defensive scheme.
Johnson will have three years to play three seasons once he arrives in Lawrence.
