Bearcats holding on to Traylor-Bennett

12/10/2012

Three-star receiver Mykel Traylor-Bennett (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Reynoldsburg) said he remains committed to Cincinnati following the coaching turnover.

“I heard [Tommy Tuberville] runs a spread offense,” he said. “I’m fine with that.”

Traylor-Bennett has not talked with any of the Cincinnati coaches since speaking to Mike Bajakian on Friday. Bajakian has since accepted a job to join former Bearcats coach Butch Jones at Tennessee.

Traylor-Bennett thought Jones was staying after he did not leave for Colorado or Purdue. Late last week, however, Jones became the Volunteers’ top target and took the job.

“I was surprised. I didn’t know what to think,” Traylor-Bennett said. “My dad was saying to tell everyone to wait and see what happens and if I don’t like what goes on to open back up. But I’m solid with the coach now.”

As a senior, Traylor-Bennett estimates he finished with 800 yards from scrimmage with double-digit touchdowns and three more touchdowns on punt returns.
