Elite 11 finalist Danny Etling (Terre Haute, Ind./South Vigo) heard the news of Darrell Hazell's hiring as Purdue's next coach, but the Boilermakers' 2013 quarterback commit is not jumping on board yet.
Etling, No. 172 in the ESPN 300, will wait to hear from the new Purdue coach before deciding if he will remain committed.
"I think I'm just going to wait for him to contact me and kind of see what his plans are and if he still wants me," Etling said. "I don't really know much about him."
Reports surfaced late Tuesday that Hazell, who took Kent State all the way to No. 17 in the BCS, was taking the Purdue job. More than a week passed since former Purdue coach Danny Hope was fired, and that opened the door for a few other programs.
"A few teams have started recruiting me," Etling said. He declined to name the teams involved.
The four-star quarterback is No. 3 in the Indiana state rankings and has been committed to Purdue since April.
