With Illinois firing Ron Zook on Sunday, it’s likely the Illini will lose their foothold in the state of Florida when it comes to recruiting. But that could be a good thing.
Under Zook, Illinois hasn’t done a great job of keeping the best in-state players in the state of Illinois. In the Class of 2012, Jason Robertson is the Illini’s top player from the state of Illinois, and he is ranked 18th in the state.
