Take a glance at the Class of 2013 team rankings and some might be surprised to see Vanderbilt's name among the top 25. The Commodores might not be dropping out anytime soon, as Vanderbilt added another key piece to its class Sunday.
Three-star athlete Jalen Banks (Harvey, Ill./Thornton) committed to Vanderbilt while on an official visit.
The combination of SEC football and a strong education was the key selling point for the 5-foot-11, 190-pound Banks, who was once considered a strong Wisconsin lean.
"Best of both worlds," Banks wrote in a text. "I'm treated like family."
Banks is the Commodores' 22nd commitment in the 2013 class. He likely will play in the secondary.
Nebraska, Oregon and Wisconsin were also among Banks' favorites.
