Two-star offensive tackle Shakir Carr (South Bend, Ind./Clay) has six offers, but only one of those teams finds itself in his top three.
Carr is thinking big and is looking to land offers from Illinois and Indiana soon.
The Illini are the more interested of the two Big Ten programs, Carr said, and he will visit Champaign on Oct. 27 when Illinois hosts Indiana.
“They want me to come to a game, and I talked to Coach Luke Butkus, the offensive line coach, recently,” Carr said. “He just continues to tell me I’m next, and they send me 10 letters a week.”
As the interest in the Illini continues to grow, Carr has said the interest from Indiana has waned. He has not talked with the Hoosiers staff in several weeks.
“I haven’t heard from them in a few weeks,” he said. “They came to my school like three weeks ago and got my transcripts.”
Western Michigan rounds out Carr’s top three, and the 6-foot-3, 283-pound tackle made a visit to WMU in late August. He is not sure when he will make it back for a visit but definitely plans to.
“I talk to them just as much as I talk to Illinois,” he said. “They want me bad, and they said I’m their No. 1 recruit.”
Ball State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Central Michigan and Miami (Ohio) are Carr's remaining offers.
