Still working toward his first BCS offer, Zach Yousey (Columbus, Ohio/Harvest Prep) has several MAC offers and says he is having his best season yet.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound receiver is playing wide receiver, running back and quarterback this season. He has close to 1,000 yards from scrimmage and 15 total touchdowns.
Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Miami (Ohio), Ohio and Toledo have offered Yousey. He says several BCS programs are interested, most notably nearby Ohio State as well as Wisconsin.
Yousey visited the Buckeyes earlier this season for the California game, and he worked out for Ohio State this summer at a camp, where he reportedly ran a 4.33 in the 40-yard dash.
Wisconsin also hosted Yousey for a visit this summer. He said the Badgers want to see his ACT score before going any further, but he will visit Wisconsin for the Ohio State game Nov. 17.
“It’s a chance to see the environment, how the coaching staff coaches in tight situations, see how the game day is, see how the team responds to competition,” Yousey said.
Of the programs to offer Yousey, he said Toledo, Ohio and Miami (Ohio) are his favorites, in order.
“[Toledo] has a young coaching staff, going to have high energy in practices and that really was a plus for me,” he said. “The coaching staff knows what they’re doing, and they like to pass the ball a lot.”
Ohio is undefeated through six games, and that perfect record is what Yousey likes most about the Bobcats.
As for Miami, Yousey would play cornerback if he committed to the RedHawks.
“They want me for defense, so they got me excited because hitting somebody never gets old.”
