Division I recruits from Elyria, Ohio, fall off the tongue easily. In the last few years, Greg Davison has gone to Ohio University, Isaiah Byler to Bowling Green, Chase Farris to Ohio State and Tad France to Kent State.
With Tracy Sprinkle headed to the Buckeyes next fall as well, scouts are finding athletes everywhere when they look at the Pioneers.
The biggest of which is Stewart, who has stood out as a senior from his offensive tackle position.
The 6-foot-4, 265-pound Stewart has the interest of Miami (Ohio), Toledo, Kent State and Bowling Green.
“I’ve been talking to Miami for three weeks,” Stewart said. “I caught the Toledo game Saturday and will go to Kent State after that.
“They all seem pretty interested. It’s a blessing. I come here and work as hard as I can.”
Lewis and Connell have both stepped it up as well in the backfield as the tandem has been quite a force for Elyria.
Both have interest from Toledo, Kent State and Bowling Green and both are using that to drive more schools their way.
“I thank God for giving me the gift I have to provide for my team,” Lewis said. “I’m keeping it up in the classroom. I’m thankful. It pushes me to go as far as I can. I want to be successful and make something of myself.”
