Michigan State might want to reconsider where they put Darian Hicks (Solon, Ohio/Solon) when the Spartans commit comes to school next season.
Hicks, who is being tabbed as a cornerback for MSU, flashed some serious offensive skills in pulling the Comets back from the dead in a 24-21 win over Shaker Heights.
The senior had five catches for 120 yards and scored two touchdowns in the final 2:22 to keep Solon from getting upset -- the second coming with 19 seconds left on a 46-yard slant.
“We just talked to our team and told them we wouldn’t lose the game,” Hicks said. “I told the quarterback you’ve got to throw it to me because I know I can beat their defenders.
“The gear comes from inside. It was the first game of the season and our first Friday night game. We weren’t going to lose this game.”
What Hicks won’t lose is his offer from MSU as the Spartans commit has no plans to go anywhere but East Lansing.
He’s making one official visit and that’s to Michigan State. While he doesn’t know when, Hicks knows the next step for him is colored in green and white.
“I’m done and it’s nice to have it done,” he said. “Now I can focus on the season and not have to worry about this college and that college after me. I’ll make it up there after the season is over.”
Hicks had offers from 14 other schools with Louisville showing major interest.
