Class of 2014 defensive back Darius West (Lima, Ohio/Lima Central Catholic) already has five offers, but his two favorites are still evaluating him. And his two favorites have quite the history with each other.
“Ohio State and Michigan are my two favorites,” West said.
On Saturday, West visited Ohio State for its Friday Night Lights camp. West said he did OK but was beaten a few times. But he isn’t worried about it in a camp setting.
The Buckeyes have been interested in West for several months, and West plans to call assistant coach Tim Hinton this week.
“Basically they’re looking at me real heavy and are going to evaluate me the whole season,” West said. “He said to give him a call soon. Once I call them, I’ll go from there.”
West spoke with the coaches at Michigan last week, and the staff told him pretty much the same thing.
“They’re going to evaluate me hard this season and see what I got, basically,” he said.
This fall, West will see the heated rivalry up close as he plans to visit Ohio State the weekend of the Michigan game Nov. 24.
He will also visit Cincinnati and Illinois for a game this season, as both programs have offered. Akron, Bowling Green and Toledo have also offered.
