Detroit Martin Luther King safety Leon Alexander does not claim any favorites among his six offers, but he likes the attention Ball State is showing.
“Ball State has shown me a lot of love,” the 6-foot-2, 195-pound safety said. “[Assistant coach Jay Bateman] has been messaging me on Facebook and is really interested in me. He said I would fit great in the defense.”
Bateman is the Cardinals’ defensive coordinator, and is already telling Alexander he is built in the mold of the kind of safety they are looking for in Muncie, Ind.
“He said he liked [that] I’m a very physical player,” Alexander said. “I can move around for my size. … As a player on the field I play smart, but very physical. I’m a team player, not selfish at all.”
The Cardinals offered Alexander after seeing him at a recent camp. The same happened with his latest offer, which comes from Ohio. Alexander did not even know the Bobcats were interested in him.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Army, Central Michigan and Miami (Ohio) have also offered.
