Two MAC offers in for ATH Harding

6/18/2012

Athlete Heath Harding (Miamisburg, Ohio/Dayton Christian) got off to a bit of a slow start with the recruiting process, but it has picked up recently since the beginning of June. Harding now has two offers from MAC programs.

Ohio was the first to offer the 5-foot-10, 170-pound rising senior, and Toledo came through with an offer Saturday while Harding attended Michigan State’s camp.

The Bobcats are recruiting Harding as a cornerback.

“They said they like my speed and my ability to compete and how hard I was working in the drills,” Harding said. “They said my tape was real good, too, they just wanted to see it more in person.”

The coaching staff at Ohio already made an impression on Harding, as he plans to make it to the Athens campus for a visit this week.

Harding was somewhat surprised with the Toledo offer as he felt he could have done better at the Michigan State camp this past weekend. Clearly, Harding is tougher on himself than college coaches are.

“Toledo said I did real good, and they’re impressed with my speed,” Harding said. “They like my coverage. They said they like how I competed and worked hard in my drills, liked my personality.”

With two offers in hand, Harding, who prefers running back, is already split on which school he likes better at this point. Both have him impressed already.

“I would have to lean toward Ohio because they were my first offer, so naturally I’m going to like them more,” Harding said. “But I do like the fact Toledo likes me as an athlete.

“I still want to see both campuses. Both coaches are great. It’s kind of hard to choose between them.”

Harding also attended Cincinnati’s camp recently and said he was hand-timed at 4.37 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

He will also attend Ohio State’s camp on June 23.
