The last week has been kind to first-year Illinois coach Tim Beckman as the Fighting Illini picked up commitment No. 3 over just the last six days.
Defensive tackle Jarrod Clements (Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood-Madison) committed to Illinois on Tuesday.
“He can do some special things,” Trotwood-Madison coach Maurice Douglass said. “I think with the scheme they’re going to be running and his explosiveness off the ball, he'll be a very productive player who will have the opportunity to play as a true freshman.
“… I think it's a good decision for him and his family. I know that coach Beckman and Illini nation will be extremely please with the player they're going to get.”
Clements (6-foot-2, 270 pounds) is the second defensive tackle to commit over the last two days. Merrick Jackson (6-foot-2, 340 pounds) committed on Monday.
Four-star athlete Aaron Bailey, who will play quarterback at Illinois, committed April 26.
The Illini now have seven commitments in the 2013 class.
