INDIANAPOLIS -- Junior athlete Chase Dutra (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) had a productive day at the Best of the Midwest combine on Monday, showing well in individual drills and the 7-on-7 competition.
“I felt like I burned some people on the routes, shook them, got open, creating space was probably something I was really good at today,” said Dutra, who ran a 4.52 in the 40-yard dash. “I did drop one ball but felt it was just one ball. I’ll be fine with it.”
Dutra is still looking for his first offer, but he’s confident he will have a handful of offers sometime soon.
“I’ve had a lot of handwritten stuff from Georgia Tech, Iowa, Purdue has sent a lot lately, Indiana, a lot of the Midwest teams,” Dutra said.
He already has visited Ball State, Indiana and Iowa, too.
“IU’s campus was beautiful,” he said. “The weight room was something that really impressed me. Everything is nice and bunched together, so it isn’t like spread out across the campus and everything.
“Iowa is nice, too. I love everything they have, the coaching, they put a lot of people in the league, which I’m looking for.
“Ball State was nice. The coaches said they’d like to offer but want to see what other schools come on to me first. They don’t want to put an offer out there and have another big school come along, and then they just waste the offer.”
