Darius Mosley adds Big 12 offer

2/16/2012

BCS programs are starting to take notice of O’Fallon, Ill., junior Darius Mosley on both sides of the ball.

Mosley picked up his fifth offer of the process on Wednesday when Kansas State offered the 5-foot-11, 185-pound athlete as a receiver, according to O’Fallon coach Brandon Joggerst.

Central Michigan, Illinois, Iowa and Northern Illinois have also offered, and Arizona State is on the cusp of offering, Joggerst said. Illinois likes Mosley as a defensive back while Iowa is recruiting him as an athlete.

“Darius is a great player along with a great student,” Joggerst said. “He’s the leader of our team in many aspects. He’s a very athletic, smart student of the game and is always around the ball a lot.

“He had four defensive touchdowns -- three interceptions and a fumble return. He scored in a lot of ways and all at key times.”

Mosley played safety for O’Fallon this past fall, though his future could be at cornerback. Joggerst said Mosley played safety because he is one of the team’s best tacklers and is not indicative of a problem covering receivers on the outside. O’Fallon plays in a man-to-man scheme, so it needs sure tacklers at safety.

Indiana and Missouri are also showing interest, and Joggerst believes an offer could come from either over the next few days.
