Football Recruiting - Midlands Region: Rodney Anderson

Katy (Texas) High School running back Rodney Anderson has been to Texas A&M before, taking in a game last fall, but his experience in Aggieland for the "Friday Night Lights" scrimmage provided a bonus for the 2015 running back.

A scholarship offer.

After Anderson experienced the scrimmage and the atmosphere surrounding it, he went up to Kevin Sumlin's office for a visit and received the news that the Aggies were offering him.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Chris Warren (Rockwall, Texas/Rockwall) was the first 2015 running back to receive a scholarship from Texas. He knew he wouldn’t be the last.

Just because the Longhorns already have three verbal commits for next year’s recruiting class doesn’t mean Warren feels any impetus to pull the trigger soon.

SHENANDOAH, Texas -- Katy (Texas) High School running back Rodney Anderson isn't your typical sophomore.

An injury to a teammate opened up an opportunity for him to start at running back as a freshman for Katy, a perennial powerhouse. As a sophomore, he already has a state championship as the Tigers went 16-0 en route to the Class 5A Division II title in 2012, a season in which Anderson split time between running back and receiver after his teammate, Nebraska signee Adam Taylor, returned healthy from his injury and got the majority of the backfield carries.

Katy (Texas) High School 2015 running back Rodney Anderson has no qualms with taking a backseat on his team this season. He knows his time is coming.

Adam Taylor might be the Tigers’ feature back, but Anderson has rushed for 900 yards and 16 touchdowns this season. Not bad for a sophomore.

And Anderson is already drawing plenty of attention from colleges thus far. While he’s yet to pick up his first offer, some big programs have shown they’re interested.

Here are 15 names from across the state of Texas that the Longhorns might look at:

‘Agg Swagg Movement’ is coming
Fun-spirited, four-star quarterback and Texas A&M commit Matt Davis (Houston/Klein Forest) celebrated his 18th birthday on Sunday. For gifts, he received a PlayStation 3 and a MacBook.

Upon arriving in College Station, Davis, No. 108 in the ESPNU 150, wants to give the A&M fans a gift of his own – a little something he helped to coin the “Agg Swagg Movement.”
