On Feb. 23, he traveled to Austin, Texas, for Texas' junior day. On Saturday, just a week later, the Oklahoma commit hit another junior day, this time at Texas A&M.

If you’re a quality player from the San Antonio area and hearing from Oklahoma, there’s a good chance assistant coach Bobby Jack Wright is your first contact.

Wright coaches defensive ends for OU, but he has been the man in charge of the San Antonio area at OU for years. And if the Sooners get really serious, that’s when the position coach starts to make his name.

Oklahoma likes the versatility of Kendall Adams (Fort Worth, Texas/All Saints). At OU’s junior day Saturday, the Sooners gave Adams a glimpse of the position they might envision him playing if they decide to offer the junior.

ESPN 300 wide receiver Dannon Cavil (San Antonio/Madison) hasn’t been bashful about saying Oklahoma is his dream school.

When he was committed to Ole Miss in the summer, the Sooners were still No. 1. After flipping to California in the fall, OU was still on his mind.

Miller Safrit/ESPN.comFour-star prospect Dannon Cavil is the Sooners' fourth receiver commitment of the Class of 2013.
And now, days away from enrolling early, Cavil is realizing his dream. Cavil tweeted Monday afternoon he has switched his commitment one more time, pledging to the Sooners.

San Antonio Madison coach Jim Streety confirmed Cavil's plans to enroll early at OU.

“Committed to the University of Oklahoma… enroll in the next couple of days,” Cavil tweeted, followed with a picture of him in OU gear.

Cavil is OU’s fourth wide receiver commit and second in as many days. Three-star wide receiver K.J. Young (Perris, Calif./Citrus Hill) pledged to OU on Sunday afternoon.

While Young is considered a deep-play, explosive threat, Cavil brings a much different skill set to the table: size.

None of OU’s three previous receiver commits is as big as Cavil, who is 6-foot-5, 205 pounds and ranked No. 239 in the ESPN 300 and No. 35 at wide receiver. He is OU’s highest-ranked wide receiver commit.

For years Oklahoma wide receiver commit Jordan Smallwood (Jenks, Okla./Jenks) has felt like he is one of the better receivers in the nation.

His selflessness at Jenks never really let him get the chance to shine the way some receivers in pass-happy offense get the opportunity.

Because of Jenks’ run-first approach, it almost makes Smallwood’s senior season stand out more. He had 48 catches for 835 yards and 11 touchdowns. And last week he really got to see what he can do.

A lot has been said about Oklahoma’s recruiting strategy for the class of 2013. The Sooners have been very patient, not putting pressure on recruits to commit early. Likewise, the coaching staff hasn’t always been the most aggressive. For a lot of area prospects, the term “spring evaluation” has been thrown out before OU will make an offer.

OU assistant coach Jay Norvell, however, didn’t hesitate to offer receiver Torii Hunter Jr. (Prosper, Texas/Prosper). True to his word, Norvell hasn’t pushed Hunter to commit.

It’s a good thing for OU fans that Norvell is being patient because Hunter is too busy to even think about making a decision in football. Especially when a future in baseball could be possible and maybe even probable given Hunter’s genes.

Several schools -- including Tennessee, Texas Tech, Baylor and Ole Miss -- have extended offers to 6-foot-4, 192-pound receiver prospect Quan Jones (Wylie, Texas/Wylie East).

Oklahoma hasn't offered the ESPNU Watch list member, but the Sooners are showing plenty of interest, hosting Jones during their junior day on March 3.

“The campus lifestyle and how hard they work sticks out to me,” Jones said of the junior day visit. “It’s a very competitive school.”

Athlete Chevoski Collins (Livingston, Texas/Livingston) is in a familiar spot for a lot of recruits his size. Schools are undecided if he is better suited at wide receiver or at defensive back.

Following a visit to Oklahoma’s junior day last weekend, the question has not been answered for the Sooners regarding the junior.

Collins spent all of his time with OU wide receivers coach Jay Norvell, but he did not receive an offer.

When Jacorey Warrick (Houston/Cypress Falls) looked back at his time spent in the office of Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops, he used these words:

“I was in amazement.”

And he’s not talking about Stoops’ plush digs.

All week at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, Oklahoma wide receiver verbal commit Durron Neal (St. Louis/De Smet Jesuit) has been trying to recruit fellow Missouri product, receiver Dorial Green-Beckham (Springfield, Mo./Hillcrest), to join him with the Sooners.

But for a short period of time on Thursday, Neal wasn’t even sure if he was going to stay committed to Oklahoma. There were reports that OU wide receivers coach Jay Norvell was talking to Wisconsin about becoming its offensive coordinator.

Norvell, however, has decided to stay at OU. And now Neal said he is solid once again with the Sooners.
