San Antonio Madison High has been kind to Oklahoma before. It was the home of former OU running back Jacob Gutierrez. And the Sooners went back to that spot to land ESPN 300 wide receiver Dannon Cavil for their 2013 class.

OU is once again at San Antonio Madison and once again targeting a top offensive target in receiver Byron Daniels.

Daniels, who is 6-foot-1 and 168 pounds, has offers from OU, Texas Tech and Nebraska, among others and has seen his stock increase in the last couple of months. He had 47 catches for 712 yards with a team-leading 13 touchdowns last season.

If you’re a quality player from the San Antonio area and hearing from Oklahoma, there’s a good chance assistant coach Bobby Jack Wright is your first contact.

Wright coaches defensive ends for OU, but he has been the man in charge of the San Antonio area at OU for years. And if the Sooners get really serious, that’s when the position coach starts to make his name.

ESPN 300 wide receiver Dannon Cavil (San Antonio/Madison) hasn’t been bashful about saying Oklahoma is his dream school.

When he was committed to Ole Miss in the summer, the Sooners were still No. 1. After flipping to California in the fall, OU was still on his mind.

And now, days away from enrolling early, Cavil is realizing his dream. Cavil tweeted Monday afternoon he has switched his commitment one more time, pledging to the Sooners.

San Antonio Madison coach Jim Streety confirmed Cavil's plans to enroll early at OU.

“Committed to the University of Oklahoma… enroll in the next couple of days,” Cavil tweeted, followed with a picture of him in OU gear.

Cavil is OU’s fourth wide receiver commit and second in as many days. Three-star wide receiver K.J. Young (Perris, Calif./Citrus Hill) pledged to OU on Sunday afternoon.

While Young is considered a deep-play, explosive threat, Cavil brings a much different skill set to the table: size.

None of OU’s three previous receiver commits is as big as Cavil, who is 6-foot-5, 205 pounds and ranked No. 239 in the ESPN 300 and No. 35 at wide receiver. He is OU’s highest-ranked wide receiver commit.

There could be another receiver in the competition to replace Kenny Stills at Oklahoma this spring. With Stills and Justin Brown moving on to the next level, Sooners receivers coach Jay Norvell is looking to add another receiver to his 2013 class.

On Thursday, ESPN’s RecruitingNation reported that Clemson commit Robert Nkemdiche (Loganville, Ga./Grayson), the nation’s No. 1 prospect, is receiving a strong push from Ole Miss -- in addition to dealing with a family split over his verbal commitment.

Nkemdiche’s mother Beverly told ESPN the Magazine that she was unhappy to learn of her son’s commitment upon her return to Georgia from a summer trip to Nigeria. His older brother Denzel is a starting outside linebacker/defensive back hybrid for Ole Miss. Robert has attended three Rebels home games this season.

Ole Miss picked up its third commit on Monday, as ESPNU 150 Watch List receiver Dannon Cavil (San Antonio/Madison) gave his verbal commitment to the Rebels.

Cavil, a big receiver at 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, told Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze personally that he wanted to be a part of the change Freeze is anticipating. Cavil chose Ole Miss over offers from Baylor, Cal, Clemson and South Carolina. Arizona State, Boise State and Arkansas were among the schools showing interest.

“I made the decision in front at Freeze’s desk,” Cavil said. “I like the sheer fact there’s a rich tradition here. I want to bring championships back to this school and this family. It’s a tight-knit community here. Everybody around here loves Ole Miss.”
