OU has position in mind for 2014 target

By Brandon Chatmon

Oklahoma likes the versatility of Kendall Adams (Fort Worth, Texas/All Saints). At OU’s junior day Saturday, the Sooners gave Adams a glimpse of the position they might envision him playing if they decide to offer the junior.

Adams had been talking with quarterbacks coach Josh Heupel and tight ends/tackles coach Bruce Kittle before his trip to Norman, Okla. During junior day, he spent time with receivers coach Jay Norvell.

“I talked to Coach Norvell about playing receiver and what position would fit my body type,” Adams said. “He told me to keep in touch with him.”

At 6-foot-1 and 184 pounds, Adams has the size and athleticism to play multiple positions, but it looks like receiver could be his spot at OU.

Adams hasn’t received an offer from the Sooners, but that didn’t put a damper on his visit.

“I liked the whole experience,” he said. “Especially the beginning when we got to go in the locker room, try jerseys with our number on it, take pictures with their championship trophies and talk with the players, which made me like Oklahoma even more.”

Cornerback Zack Sanchez, receiver Sterling Shepard and cornerback Aaron Colvin were among the Sooners who talked with and took questions from the recruits. Adams called the time with the players and the time in the locker room his favorite thing about the trip.

“It was amazing, I can’t even explain it,” Adams said. “It was great. It was what I expected but I didn’t know they would let us try on the rings and stuff like that. It was a great experience.”
