Four-star Texan completes Utah trinity
By Damon Sayles
The Trinity trinity -- or Trinity triad or Trinity trio or whatever it will be dubbed in the future -- is set.
Four-star defensive lineman Gaius Vaenuku (Euless, Texas/Trinity) verbally committed to Utah during a televised announcement Sunday night. Vaenuku’s commitment gave the Utes their 30th commitment of the 2013 recruiting class.
Additionally, Vaenuku’s commitment will allow one Trinity alliance to continue. Many who follow Trinity football hoped that Vaenuku would join his high school teammates Sam Tevi, a three-star defensive lineman, and Salesi Uhatafe, three-star offensive lineman, at Utah, and he did so.
Vaenuku, a 6-foot-6, 260-pound defensive lineman who can play tackle and end, chose Utah over BYU, TCU, Missouri and Texas Tech. Vaenuku is ranked No. 33 among defensive tackles nationally and is ranked No. 52 among players in Texas in the 2013 recruiting class.
Vaenuku took a visit to Utah with Uhatafe last week and enjoyed the trip. He said having Tevi and Uhatafe attending aided in his decision.
