K-State commit solid despite new offer
By Damon Sayles
Three-star athlete and Kansas State commit Melvinson Hartfield (Dallas/South Oak Cliff) has picked up an offer from Arkansas, but assuming he will take an official visit to Fayetteville, Ark., is premature.
Hartfield said Wednesday evening that while Arkansas is an attractive offer, he was unsure whether or not he will set up a visit. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound speedster then changed his mind later in the evening and said he's not going to entertain the offer and is 100-percent committed to Kansas State.
“I like it,” Hartfield said of the Arkansas offer, “but I’m not doing any visits. I’m sticking with my choice. Wildcats all the way.”
Hartfield committed to Kansas State on Dec. 19. He visited Kansas State over the weekend, despite finding out late that his recruiting contact, receivers coach Michael Smith, took a similar position with Arkansas.
