Juco DT Brown makes his decision
By Damon Sayles
Chris Brown (Scottsdale, Ariz./Scottsdale Community College) wanted to wait until Friday to announce his commitment. He just couldn’t. Smith was that confident in his decision.
After a weekend visit to Kansas State, the junior college defensive tackle announced Monday that he has verbally committed to play for the Wildcats. The 6-foot-4, 330-pound tackle became the Wildcats’ 21st commitment of the 2013 recruiting class.
Brown, who is from Mesa, Ariz., on Sunday said he was looking to wait until Friday to make an announcement. Brown said he talked it over with family members and had a change of mind, as he was sure of his choice.
Brown had Arizona State as a finalist, as well as Iowa, but it was the comfort level he felt during the Kansas State visit that won him over.
“To be honest, it was the coaching staff,” said Brown, who was recruited by defensive line coach Mo Latimore. “They seem like a real family, like they care about you as a student and as a player.”
Brown on Sunday gave the weekend a “10” and said he was a huge fan of the athletic facilities. He called the weight room and the athletic training room “a good place to put in some hard work.” Brown added that he is expecting to sign by the end of the week.
“I’m going to come in and play hard,” Brown said. “I’m going to give everything to the program and just buy into it.”
Brown is the seventh junior college player to commit to Kansas State this year.
